Yesterday, I…

  1. Rode the bus from Laguna to Makati (and back) alone! With total travel time of 1 hour and 35 minutes including the traffic along Alabang, the rest was smooth sailing. Wohhooo! Scary one though but I faced it with such zest and excitement. And I think I climbed up the bus with such a goofy smile on my face (whatever, such a loser! -Ogie). And I sat on the aisle seat, fifth row from the driver, I would have wanted it to be much closer to the door as possible but the rest were occupied. And I really remembered what Wackow told me: take the aisle seat. Lest seating on a window seat beside an old man (-iac) would have him grooping at my arms (or gasp! somewhere else!). Now that’s a scary thought. But overall it was a good smooth ride, safe. And it was on board my favorite bus to date: De la Rosa Liners.
  2. brought my own lunch, which I prepared after taking a bath. It’s a ham and cheese sandwich with mayo and lettuce and my favorite Corn and Carrots. This idea came into being when I was really convinced that I can’t just spend and spend. I’m supposed to be broke this month end pay day, thanks to the ERRONEOUS crediting of my allowance. Thus they will be deducting the excess amount. Oh well!

What else? I’m bored… Help!

Next stop: Manila!

I’m finally moving. To Manila. Alone. Well, not with any family members anyway.

If truth be told, I’m a bit scared. I guess that’s always the case if you take the unknown. But to look at it on a positive light, this is something that I really wanted for the longest time… since I got out of college. And now it’s finally happening. Mao na ni, says Nikka Jo. I still can’t believe how I was able to tell my parents that I’ll be leaving. Ha! If you can just hear my magic line. But yeah, that’s really beside the point. But yes I’m finally leaving this Sunday at 8:05AM.

I guess at a certain time in your life you’d reach that point that you’d leave and test yourself by leaving your comfort zone. I’ll be missing a lot of people *sob* and a lot of things here in the Queen City of the South:

  • Food. I’ll definitely miss ginabot in Mabolo or in Redem. Wackow and I would eat there during our food trips; the pungko-pungko and banana cue in UP Cebu; Larsian and the Tisa Siomai.
  • Jeepney rides that has their own route codes. I’m used to really looking closely at the jeepney route codes to know where that jeepney will take me. 04L -> Ayala, SM, 17C -> Lahug, Apas, 04H-> Home.
  • IT Park and everything that’s in it.
  • Being able to travel alone to almost all places here in the city and never have to worry about calling my parents because I lost my way. (but given the time, I’ll probably be able to do this in Manila. Yes, after 3 years :) )
  • The Colon and Carbon trips with my closest friends. Heck, my friends and I made a lot of moolah from selling colorful socks that we bought in Carbon at a very cheap price and sold at almost thrice its price. It’s not overpricing through using a random pricing strategy. We incorporate proper business ethics. Naks! And then I remember the weekly trips I made to Carbon to purchase my materials for my jewelry business, something that I’d love to do again, the hobby I mean.

Those are the things that I can think of for now. But I’m betting that once I get there in Manila I’ll surely remember and miss a lot of things aside from what I’ve listed above.

Apart from that I’ll miss a lot of people:

  • my High school friends. Haven’t seen them lately except for Angela Davis (Gela) since we are just neighbors.
  • APAKADZ and Block B! The most amazing set of girlfriends and classmates one could ever have. I’ll definitely miss everyone: Kazoot - the chef; Lovely – funniest attorney at law ; Payt – the banker; Sheila – the business tycoon; Jurj – the writer and talker (1K words per minute, kiddin!); Marian – the math wiz; Katya – master Med rep Lucille – another funny attornety at law ; Sanang – curvacious lady; Chao and Tina – my kapusods forever!; Clyde – everyone’s first boyfriend hehhe and everybody else.
  • people at the office: PSU EXPEDIA CEBU TRAINING TEAM, the best training team ever! I’ll surely miss everyone: Jet – I’ll miss his being so straight to the point and when he would give me advices; Darwin – El Gwapito lead trainer, who’s paranoia and perkiness would always make us laugh; RenG  -hahah! Gotcha, Blitz! for always calling me that nasty name. Never missed a day; Mommy Chila – I’ll miss our talks and your motherly advices; NC – Mrs. Baker! I’ll miss combing your hair; Dean – for being there whenever I need a guy’s point of view on things, Paulie – for all your outrageous Rihanna lyrics and the body throwing dances; Lanie – for being my mentor when I got assigned to take care of sales and for the sisterly advices; Ronan – the best mentor ever, for always pushing me to plan and to always check for what I can do; and lastly to my sister bear Ellice – for being the maldita sister that somehow makes me see the logic of things and my constant buddy.
  • to the previously slide-sa-wall peeps: Kfed, Aima, Richie, Nanda, Gila and the rest. Thanks for taking me into the group and listening to my non sense jokes and ranting over some people last year! Hahaha was really down at that time (then, slide sa wall moment was born) but you guys were there to cheer me up. Most of you knew the reason why. But yeah past is past hahaha We triumphed over them, to say the least. Enjoyed the bowling sessions, kung saan nabuhay ang aking pangatlong tuhod :) I know I was just using the lightest bowling ball ever but hey still heavy for me! And of course who can ever forget Watchurni! I’m gonna join you guys in one of your travels!
  • My previous team with Janna: Thank you to Flem, Lisette, Gladdys, Jonems, Haidee ho, Ebs, Roann, Linlenst and Tsong for being my closest pals when I started with this job. You took me into the group and treated me as your own sister. Thanks for the countless mall trips we had and of course the adventures in Bantayan and Camotes. Much love to our first sup: Mommy Pinky :)
  • To Tsong and Lady, for always listening to me when I was at my craziest stage… stay together, ok?
  • To Shalimar “my pisces”… 1,2,3 arrrghhh! Thanks for always cracking me up and letting me see the logic of things back when…. I was crazy hahah We had such a blast mentoring batch EC 99, together with Mommy Faith and our daily ice cream session at E-Diner. Love you Shali! :)
  • to my trainees, hope you all got something from me hehehe :)
  • To all the supervisors who have been very accommodating and helpful: Thank you! :)

Yikes! I’ll be the Manila Transplant in approximately 29 hours hahahah! But I will forever be proud to be a Cebuana! :)

They say there’s always sadness in leaving. I’m not one to disagree however I wouldn’t mind taking the adventure portion as well, after all taking the unknown helps you become the person that you are always meant and destined to be.
